What is animal assisted therapy all about?
Because everyone is different, therapy is different for everyone! In general, you may expect to share what is going on in your life, explore your history and personal stories, and share feedback from previous sessions and the skills you've been practicing. Depending upon your needs, therapy might be short-term and cover a single concern or longer-term to address challenging patterns and ongoing growth and development.
Animal Assisted Therapy provides a complement to traditional counseling by including a friendly and calm animal in the room. Often, the presence of a trained therapy dog provides an environment that is conducive to the vulnerability and support necessary to the counseling process. Additionally, specific interventions using the animal may be integrated into counseling. These will vary from person to person depending upon treatment goals. Overall, the research supports several possible benefits of Animal Assisted Therapy:
Emotional support and stress relief
Learning cognitive self-care skills and improving self-image
Cultivating social skills
Providing opportunities for activity and training
What is a free initial consultation?
A free initial consultation is a phone or video call of up to 15 minutes to allow you to meet your social worker, ask questions, learn about our services, and decide if M3 Counseling is the best fit for you before you answer questions about what brings you to us. Because the relationship with your social worker is a tremendously important component of the therapeutic process, M3 Counseling offers a free initial consultation for all services. During the initial consultation, you may share as little or as much information as you like.

Medicare (Original and Advantage for companies noted above only)

Do you accept my insurance for couples counseling?
M3 Counseling accepts insurance for individual counseling services only. M3 Counseling does not accept insurance for couples counseling. We have come to this decision after weighing a multitude of pros and cons. As Krista's specialty has evolved over the years, we have come to the conclusion that couples counseling does not fit the medical model and therefore cannot be ethically billed to an insurance company. For this reason we also do not offer superbills for couples counseling.
What is your cancellation policy?
M3 Counseling requests cancellation at least 48 hours in advance of your scheduled appointment and will do our best to offer the same to our clients. There is no charge for appointments that are cancelled with appropriate notice. Should you need to cancel a session less than 24 hours in advance of your scheduled appointment or fail to show up, there is a cancellation fee.
What payment methods do you accept?
We accept payment via cash, credit, debit, and Health Savings Account (HSA) or Flexible Spending Account (FSA) cards.
